Vietnamese pho and noodle bowls.

Reliable orders

Soups

  • Pho bò (beef pho) – Classic beef noodle soup; choose brisket or eye round if you’re not into tripe/tendon.
  • Pho gà (chicken pho) – Lighter broth, comforting and simple.
  • Bun bo hue – Spicier, richer broth; good if you like heat and stronger flavors.

Noodle bowls (bún)

  • Bún thịt nướng (grilled pork vermicelli bowl) – Cold rice noodles with grilled meat, herbs, pickled veg, and fish sauce dressing.
  • Bún gà nướng (grilled chicken vermicelli bowl) – Lighter but still very satisfying.
  • Tofu or vegetarian vermicelli bowl – Great if you want something fresh, crunchy, and plant‑forward.

Banh mi

  • Banh mi with grilled pork or chicken – Crisp baguette with pickled veg, cilantro, and mayo.
  • Tofu or egg banh mi – Good vegetarian option; ask how spicy the chili is.

What to ask

  • “Which cuts are in this pho?”
If you’re not into offal, ask for lean cuts only (brisket, eye round) and skip tendon/tripe.

  • “How spicy is this by default?”
Bun bo hue and some sauces can be quite hot; ask them to tone it down if you’re unsure.

  • “Can you make this with less fish sauce?”
If you’re sensitive to funkier fish flavors.

  • “Any peanuts in this?”
Critical for allergies, especially in some noodle bowls and sauces.

Simple game plans

If you want cozy and simple

  • Chicken pho
  • Fresh spring rolls (if they have them)

If you want something bright and fresh

  • Grilled pork or chicken vermicelli bowl
  • Iced tea or Vietnamese iced coffee

If you want a quick lunch

  • Banh mi (grilled meat or tofu)
  • Small side or drink

Skip or rethink if…

  • You’re ordering bun bo hue + lots of chili on the side but you don’t usually eat spicy food.
→ Start with pho or a milder noodle bowl.

  • You don’t like strong fish flavors and you’re going heavy on fish sauce dressings without asking.
→ Ask them to go easy on it or suggest a milder option.

  • You’re very texture‑sensitive and adding tendon/tripe to your pho “just to try.”
→ Maybe stick to brisket or eye round this time.
